I'm finally Twittering
I have resisted signing up for Twitter for months now, but this morning I finally surrendered. I am now officially a Twitterer.
I've heard so many people talk about how much they love it, and how it has been a good tool for their business, that I finally decided to set aside my knee-jerk reaction to it (i.e., that it seems pretty pointless) and explore it first-hand.
I figure it's worth experimenting with. I'll try it for 30 days. If it feels worth continuing, I'll keep at it. If not...well, at least I know.
If you'd like to follow along, my user name is curtrosengren (clever, eh?).My main page is twitter.com/curtrosengren.
In the meantime, I'm curious...do you Twitter? If you do, why?

Twitter helps me keep up with some of my clients, vendors, and other business associates. Their doings make for easy connections as I can better understand who they are rather than just what they do. That helps me better understand their needs and wants and that helps me better help them. In short, it is a great networking tool but you have to want to network.

Thanks Steven. Interesting perspective.
Consider yourself followed.

Like you, Curt, I've had reservations about spending the time - but I waded in a while back for the following reasons:
- Microblogging in 140 words or less fits well into what I call dumb goals ;-)
- Might improve my copywriting skills - brevity, and all that!!
- I'm getting traffic via twitter to my main blog.
- I'm comfortable with email but I know my daughter almost always texts. Perhaps a % of my customers will want to engage that way too?
- Some tech savvy Webinars already using Twitter as a way of taking live question/comments.
Could be worth checking out.
Well, let's see how I feel about it in 6 months...

I really, really don't like Twitter...but I use it because it seems ot be catching fire as a marketing tool and I almost hope my negative connotations about it will be 'proven wrong' over time.
When I changed my focus from 'trying to sell more products' to blogging about companies that are socially responsible...I figured I had a better story to tell and wider audience to tell it to. We'll see...
In truth, it's not the 'application' that I don't like...it's the inane 'tweets' that I see.
"...watching the Olympics."
"..wihsing there were more hours in the day!.."
"Laughing my ass off watching Friends."
"Eating Souop. Mmmm....Yummy!"
"wishing the rain would stop so I can surf..."
That kind of stuff. I keep in touch with my customers and friends via e-mail. I EXPECTED Twitter to be a tool where I can find insightful and interesting people and read their daily or weekly thoughts.
So far, all I am fining is what goofy websites people stumble across and what kind of mood they are in.
I plan to 'follow' you, Curt...and I hope you make a believer out of me. If you wind up following me (I'm 'Defmall') i hope I won't make a hypocrite out of myself!

Ahhhh yes, Mark. Brevity. I have a sneaking hunch I could use a healthy dose of that. ;-)

Yikes, Jeff! The pressure! ;-)
I'm starting to get a slightly better feel for what I want it to be. I look forward to seeing where yours takes you.

I use twitter to keep in contact with my market and my team. I was very reluctant to use twitter but like you took the plunge.
I am becoming more comfortable with twitter the more I use it. I use the program, twhirl to receive my tweets.
I was told that it would improve my blog posting by learning to be concise and good for headline testing.
I am not a fan of the I'm going out now to eat Chinese food kind of tweets. I prefer reading when people post new blog posts or have something interesting to share to the community.
