What is M.A.P.?
This blog is based on M.A.P. (Meaning, Abundance, & Passion), three key components in creating a vibrant, meaningful, sustainable life. Meaning and Passion provide the energy and fuel, while Abundance focuses on creating a sustainable reality.
Below you'll find a short summary of what I mean by each of those components, and links to pages with more details.
Meaning
I define meaning in terms of making a "personally meaningful difference" in the world. It's not about some random do-gooder activity that other people might admire. It's about finding the kind of difference you can put your efforts towards that would inspire you and pull you forward.
Whether or not you see yourself as a change-the-world type, incorporating meaning into the equation is in your own best interest. Working towards a change that inspires you and draws you forward is a source of fuel for your forward momentum.
Abundance
Abundance isn't just a financial concept. Money does come into play, certainly, but it's only one element of what I call 360-degree abundance. Some other elements could include, for example, relationship abundance, health abundance, and fun abundance.
An abundant life is a balancing act. Too much focus on any one thing at the expense of the others, and your life runs the risk of getting out of whack. It's only by keeping multiple elements of abundance in mind that you can consciously evaluate how your decisions will affect each of them.
Passion
My definition of passion is "the energy that comes from bringing more of YOU into what you do." Simply put, it's being who you are and doing what you're drawn to.
When you figure out what makes you tick and start making decisions to bring more of that into your life, you find energy in the work you do. The work you do actually energizes you.
